Author Doris Pozzi

doris PozziTo help you find, identify and enjoy edible weeds, author and speaker, Doris Pozzi, has written the book Edible Weeds and Garden Plants of Melbourne.  Doris has been an avid forager and food gardener most of her life, starting out in an Italian household in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs.  Doris enjoys her veggie patch but also regularly adds a range of healthy and delicious edible weeds to her and her family’s diet.  As her passion for edible weeds developed Doris found herself doing more and more research to discover the range of weeds available locally, their properties and ways of preparing them in the kitchen. Her book Edible Weeds and Garden Plants of Melbourne grew out of that interest.

Doris has been regularly featured in the media.  Her radio appearances have included 3AW (The Big Backyard, Breakfast with Ross & John, Mornings with Neil Mitchell), 3RRR (Dirty Deeds), 3CR (Food Fight), Radio National, and Yarra Valley FM.  Her work has been featured in Gourmet Traveller magazine, Jetstar Magazine, The Age – Epicure, Herald-Sun, Yarra Valley magazine, and, in The Leader Newspapers across Melbourne.

The edible weeds book is Doris’ second published book as an author.  Her first book, Success With Soul (with co-author Stephen Williams) also developed from her motivation to lead a more sustainable and meaningful lifestyle. More recently this motivation has led to her completing a Permaculture Design Course and moving to a small acreage forest garden in the beautiful Yarra Valley outside Melbourne.

Thank you for hosting a workshop in Hume. It was so motivating and there was such interest.  It was a great success! Bridie W, Hume City Council

There is certainly much interest in Edible Weeds.  The enthusiasm of the 40 people attending our session was evidence of that.  Doris presented comprehensive information about the topic in an entertaining and engaging way.” Jackie Waring, Land Management Project Officer, Nillumbik Shire Council

‘It was a pleasure to have Doris present an edible weeds session to our Karen (Burmese) refugees.  Doris has a very warm and engaging manner and was immediately able to build good rapport with the audience.  Doris has an incredible ability to communicate the depth and breadth of her knowledge about edible weeds in a simple, easy to understand way.  The combination of presentation/demonstration and walk-and-talk made the session very interactive, hands-on and fun.  I have no hesitation in recommending Doris to anyone and hope we can find other opportunities to work with her in the future.’ Jen McQueeney, Environmental Engagement Officer, Hobsons Bay City Council

Looking forward to your workshop again, everyone loved the last one. Simon, Hume City Council
